Introducing the Percussion Plus Jammer Djembe rope-tuned

These Percussion Plus Jammer Djembes are made using certified Indonesian timber from SVLK compliant sources, ensuring the wood is legally logged, transported, traded and processed in response to the global need to manage the world’s natural resources more responsibly. Each drum features a natural shaved goat skin head, selected for its authentic tonal response and durability, and is sustainably designed for long-term use in the classroom, built to withstand regular playing. Traditionally, djembes are played as part of an ensemble, with group playing offering an ideal way to practise rhythm in a collaborative environment, particularly for children in schools or within music therapy settings. Playing the djembe is a sensory experience that can support motor skill development and help reduce stress, while enabling children and adults alike to build confidence, work as a team and enjoy making music together.

Unique design

The distinctive features of the djembe include a traditional goatskin head, sarong wrapped head ring, nylon rope tuning, and a superior third metal ring system to eliminate any chance of the skin slipping The carved detailing on the base of each djembe adds a distinctive visual character that reflects the instrument’s traditional roots while enhancing its appeal in educational and performance settings. The textured finish offers subtle tactile interest, supporting a more engaging, hands-on playing experience that complements the djembe’s rich, resonant sound.

Sounds of the djembe

Djembes are extremely versatile and widespread, due to the range of possible pitches which can be created by hitting different areas of the drum skin. The main sounds produced by the djembe are bass, tone and slap. Bass is a low-pitched note played in the centre of the drum. Tone, a medium-pitched sound, is made by striking the djembe skin right at the edge. Finally, slap is the most technically challenging sound of the djembe: a high-pitched note played near the edge of the djembe skin, it is similar to ‘tone’ but the hand is positioned slightly further towards the centre of the drum skin.

Available sizes and tonal range

These rope-tuned djembes are available individually in four ascending sizes: 6”, 7”, 8” and 10”. Offering a clear progression in pitch and presence, this size range brings natural variation to a djembe circle, creating a broader, more engaging soundscape across the ensemble. With smaller drums delivering higher, more agile tones and larger sizes adding depth and projection, there is a suitable option for players of all ages, sizes and playing styles.

I was very pleased the items,where as described and very good quality. Buying a first guitar for my daughter at 8 years old she was very happy with it and my son was very happy with the drum at 1 1/2 years old, delivery was fast and efficient and will be buying from them again for my over children
