Introducing the MMX 61 Student composite viola bow with ebony frog

The MMX61 Student series bows are a notch above the standard student bow offering and make an excellent first bow, replacement bow or classroom spare. Available in 1/2, 3/4 and 4/4 sizes, they are popular with teachers, schools and progressing students looking for a reliable and responsive bow.

These bows are consistently produced using a composite wood stick, with nickel silver mounted ebony frogs, mother of pearl slides and eyes, and a real wood veneer finish. They are also fitted with white unbleached horsehair, offering dependable performance and durability for regular practice and study.

The lightweight construction provides comfortable handling and control, helping to reduce fatigue during longer playing sessions while supporting the development of good bowing technique.

Also available for violin and cello.

The MMX range

MMX has been working with master luthier Guofang Wang and his family workshop for nearly a decade, producing a wide selection of orchestral stringed instruments. MMX bows combine the historical traditions of bow making with quality, durable materials and expert craftsmanship. The result is a versatile bow designed to support developing technique while remaining durable enough for regular practice and educational use. For the beginner, the Student series offers an excellent start to the playing journey.

At Harrow Music Service we are very happy with the instruments we have ordered from Chamberlain and the ease of ordering via the website. The packaging is recyclable with minimal plastic so that is a benefit too. The only area of improvement I can suggest is in the time between ordering and delivery. I appreciate we have ordered instruments at start of academic year - which is a very busy time, but it would be helpful to receive notifications of when deliveries are on the way, or have been delivered. Other than that we know we can rely on Chamberlain for efficient service and good quality instruments.
