Introducing the Drums for Schools Educator Star Djembe

The Drums for Schools Educator Star Djembe is a beautifully crafted percussion instrument for young musicians and beginner drummers. Made using traditional techniques and sustainable materials, it offers an accessible introduction to rhythm, culture and ensemble playing. Its light weight, compact profile and durable finish make it suitable for classrooms, group settings and home use.

Each drum is carved from plantation-grown mahogany and finished with the hand-painted Educator Star design. A natural goatskin head is tensioned with cotton string and set above a carved shell for authentic tone and resonance. Most sizes include a small wooden beater for younger players; the head also responds well to fingers and palms for more expressive playing.

The Educator Star range is available in 3.5" × 15cm, 4.5" x 20cm, 5" × 25cm, 6.5" × 30cm, 8" x 40cm, 9.5" x 50cm, 10.5" × 60cm and 11.5" x 60cm sizes, covering early years classroom use through to larger ensemble applications. All models are lightweight, portable and built for frequent educational use.

Care & maintenance

Avoid prolonged exposure to direct heat or moisture. Clean the shell with a dry cloth and store in a cool, dry place. If tuning is required, seek advice on traditional string tensioning techniques to avoid damage to the head.
