Introducing the Drums for Schools painted shaman drum

This is a hand-made Shaman Drum, covered with airbrush painted goat skin and complete with a padded beater. A lovely large percussion instrument for young children to get their hands on, this beautiful drum is both very light and easy to carry and has a wonderful cryptic black shadow creature painted upon its skin.

It has an impressive deep, resonant tone and is quite robust. Its large playing surface means that two children could use this instrument together - the normal way of playing a Shaman Drum by yourself is to hold the drum sideways by the back ‘strings’ and hit it from the side with the (included) beater. This is similar to how you would hold a Bodhrán (Irish flat-drum).

You can also lay the drum flat on the floor and play it from above in which case it would be good to have two soft beaters to play it. This is the way children can share the drum as well.
