An essential addition to any music classroom, the DC-8 Dual multi-keyboard power supply eliminates the need for frustrating keyboard adaptors extension cables. Regulated and highly effective, featuring a 9 volt DC power supply designed to power multiple keyboard.
Safe, sturdy and reliable, the DC8 is designed to power both Yamaha and Casio keyboards and is perfect for use on the stage and in the studio. Use the DC to DC cables (8 supplied) to connect your keyboards to one unit, taking your concern away from cables and safety, allowing you to focus on what matters.
The unit can also be used with wireless microphones, guitar foot pedals and more. Please just ensure the polarity, voltage and DC socket size are compatible. The unit is capable of driving continuously 8 medium sized keyboards. The polarity of the outputs is factory pre-set to the Yamaha and current Casio standard. This can be easily changed internally to the opposite polarity.
Please note that the old Casio keyboards up to 2013 were made with centre pin negative, please be certain that this psu is set to the correct polarity, or damage might occur. For units from 2013 on, the polarity is the same, centre pin positive, which is how this DC8-DUAL is set. Casio use 3 different sizes of DC plug, custom leads are available for each model.
Red lead = centre pin positive (Yamaha / Casio)
Green Lead = Centre pin negative (old Casio)
The lead fitted to the front panel to the left of the outputs provides an instant indication of the way the polarity has been set, as above. This led is white when the unit is switched off. The DC-8DUAL produces 4.2 amps of fully regulated power, with each output designed to deliver ½ an amp. Very large keyboards with big LCD displayers and disc drives could take up to 1 amp each: do not overload this unit, instead connect only 4 or 5 keyboards to each DC-8DUAL. This unit’s design offers up to 90% efficiency.
Remove the lid – two screws, and don’t loose the small shake-proof (crinkled) washer as this ensures earth continuity between the lid and base.
At the right hand edge of the DC socket circuit board are two screw terminals into which the yellow (or black/ red) wires from the power module are fitted. To reverse the polarity, undo these two screws, pull out the wires and refit them in opposite terminals. Then, re-fit the lid. When switched on again, the front panel led will have changed colour from red to green. They are factory-set to centre pin +.
